Friendship and laughter

If you have good friends in your life consider letting them know how much they mean to you. I am lucky to be surrounded by amazing, compassionate, caring and true people. I am grateful and thankful to have them in my life.

They make me laugh, think, cry, love, and enjoy life as it comes. Above all, they take me as I am, happy or sad, silly or serious. They offer shoulders to cry on or lean on, and I am certain that as I would go out of my way for them, they would do so for me as well.

So take a moment to acknowledge the people around you. Consider yourself lucky for this chance to have such people in your life. To my dear friends, you know who you are, thank you all for being in my life and for bringing me so much joy everyday. Much love.

The Blossoming

I wrote this Wednesday July 20th while on a Yoga Retreat/Hatha Yoga Teachers Training with the PranaShanti Yoga Centre.

Today was just a beautiful day. The warm sun rose over the water as we meditated, embracing us in its warm radiant light. There was a feeling of excitement in the air, a contagious positive energy. I really felt as though the group was now moving as one.

The comfort and sense of security that this provide us with, allowed for some to become more confident in sharing their opinions. I was surprised by the great sense of humour of some and moved by the deep feeling of connectedness of others.

Laughter, enthusiasm, open-mindedness, true expression of joy, admiration without jealousy are only some of the many things I have seen here.

As this day ends, I am left to think of all the great opportunities we can all partake to in making this world a better place. This coming together of people, this gathering of souls in a place such as this, which fosters a positive attitude and the full development of one’s unique gifts and personality, makes me reflect on how the world could be.

What a great day, you are all such wonderful and amazing people. I was honoured to spend this time with you all and I know that you will change the world, one asana at a time!

Much Love and Happiness to all. Shanti, shanti, shanti.

Enthusiasm

Someone recently told me that the measure of a life should be defined by how closely we feel to the lightness and freedom we once had when we chose to chase butterflies. He said, remember when we were kids and we would chase butterflies? This feeling of joy is what we should try to continue seeking. True enthusiasm for life is what we wish we could live and sometimes still glimpse through our children’s eyes as their eyes fill with butterflies.

Most of us have forgotten or brushed aside this enthusiasm for fear of being marginalized and excluded. At a young age, society tells us we should dress in black and grey and we do so in order to fit in and draw as little attention to us as we can. The result? Total annihilation. We have reduced ourselves to factory-made humans who all feel and say the same things, who all strive to look the same way, and who have put all of their Faith in material goods. We are lost, drowning in this genuine plastic world.

Enthusiasm is where creativity emerges. Life is not about catching that butterfly. Life is about running with it and enjoying every last moment of it. As unpredictable the path can be at times, confidence in what life and our loved ones have thought us is what we can trust to be guided by. And so, seek to live by values rather than material goals, choose to love rather than compete and you may find that the world will become a happier place to live in. Thanks Love.
